Late Nur-Ruhizan bin Dato’ Noh

BSc Architecture, Iowa State, USA.
Co-founder | Director
Built Environment & Interdisciplinary Design

Nur-Ruhizan earned his B.Sc. in Architecture from Iowa State University of Science & Technology and his first love is design in all its depth and breadth. He firmly believes that design is holistic and should be integrated across all visual disciplines, from architecture and industrial design, to creative communications and visual arts.

Architectural Origins

His employment with United Engineers Malaysia Berhad (UEM) exposed him to projects of various scales, including the National Stadium at Bukit Jalil, the Rest & Service Areas along the North-South Expressway and the private office design for Tun Daim Zainuddin, the then-Minister of Finance, Malaysia.

His passion in Art & History drove him to guest lecture for several semesters at Lim Kok Wing Institute of Creative Technology (LICT) covering classes in Interior Design, Architectural History, Visual Culture and Industrial Design.

International Startup

In 2011, Nur-Ruhizan teamed up with long-time partners Ashran Dato’ Ghazi (ex-CEO of MaGIC) and Lilyana Latiff (MyNEF) under the stewardship of Fauzi Dato’ Ali (Sapura) to launch the global social media platform JOOTA. The Malaysian-based venture attracted investment from local and foreign VCs in collaboration with USA-based partners in San Francisco and Portland, Oregon.

The experiences undergone in these ventures afforded Nur-Ruhizan valuable insights into the areas of international ventures, online community engagement and global brand communications & marketing.

From a design career spanning across almost three decades, Nur-Ruhizan brings to ECODWELL VENTURES his collective experience in architecture, visual communications and interdisciplinary design.
